SHEPHERD, Mich. — A man was stabbed before stealing his girlfriend’s car last week, Michigan State Police said Monday.
Michigan State Police responded to reports of a stolen vehicle in Coe Township early morning Thursday, where a woman said her boyfriend, a 43-year-old man from Mount Pleasant, assaulted her before stealing her car.
Investigators later learned that the woman had stabbed the man in the back before he drove away with her car.
He was found at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Kentucky.
After the stabbing, the man drove himself to Kentucky, where he has relatives, before seeking treatment for the life-threatening stab wound, according to police.
The stolen car was found across the street from the hospital in a Wendy’s parking lot.
The woman was arrested Friday without incident for felonious assault.
The investigation continues.
