Victim ID'd in Holland Twp homicide, suspect arrested

HOLLAND TOWNSHIP — The homicide victim found at the Staybridge Suites was identified as Michelle Speck Thursday evening. An autopsy confirmed the cause of death was a knife wound.

Deputies were called to the Staybridge Suites on James Street around 1:43 a.m. Thursday morning.

According to the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office, the 52-year-old woman was found dead inside the hotel and the suspect, Speck's 31-year-old son-in-law, took off from the scene in her car.

He was later arrested in South Bend Indiana, where he will be held until formal charges and extradition proceedings are filed.

The suspect will be identified when he is formally charged.
