OLIVE TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A 26-year-old man from West Olive died after crashing his 2018 Chevy Silverado pickup truck into a tree.

This happened around 8 p.m. on June 5 in Olive Township.

He was driving with another 24-year-old man, heading westbound on Stanton Street when they went off the road, rolled over, and hit a tree.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, but his passenger suffered minor injuries.

They were both wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

Authorities are still unsure of why the truck left the road, but they say that speeding might have been a factor.

Alcohol and drugs aren't suspected as this incident remains under investigation by the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office.
