TALLMADGE TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A Grandville man was rescued safely after his kayak flipped over Saturday morning.
The incident occurred at 10:47 a.m. on Fennessy Lake in Tallmadge Township, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies are dispatched to the scene for a report of a kayaker who was in the middle of the lake hollering for help. Upon arriving at the scene, officers saw a capsized kayak and Joel Bundy, 42, of Grandville in the water and holding onto it.
Deputies borrowed another kayak from a nearby residence and paddled out into the lake to assist. However, Geary Farrell, who lived nearby, also went out in a rowboat, got Bundy into it and brought him back to shore.
Bundy was treated by Life Ambulance medics for hypothermia at the scene and was released.
Responding agencies included the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office, Wright/Tallmadge Fire/Rescue and Georgetown Fire/Rescue.
