Driver dies in Ottawa County crash after car overturns, hits tree

OLIVE TOWNSHIP, Mich. — One person is dead after a crash in Ottawa County early Friday morning.

It happened around 3 a.m. on Port Sheldon Street just west of 96th Avenue in Olive Township.

Deputies with the Ottawa County Sheriff office say the driver was headed westbound on Port Sheldon Street when it ran off the north side of the road, overturned, and hit a tree.

The driver was the only person inside and was pinned and died from their injuries. Authorities have identified him as 22-year-old Charles Gallup of West Olive.
