County parks may close if social distancing not followed: 'We will have no choice'

Officials in Ottawa County say they may be forced to close parks to the public, if residents are not able to follow social distancing guidelines.

A post shared on the county's Facebook page Thursday morning said that if visitors could not maintain a safe social distance, the county would "have no choice but to close all the parks."

Short of a complete shutdown, the county has already restricted access to some of its recreational areas, including Rosy Mound, the dog park at The Ravines, Grand Ravines North, Mount Pisgah and Olive Shores.

Officials are also asking residents not to visit any parks where lots are already half-full or more.
