SPRING LAKE, Mich. — A man called 911 about an hour before he called again to allegedly confess to harming his father, but nobody showed up until the second call.

Kenneth Boone called 911 around 7:24 a.m. on Dec. 1 and said he harmed his father. When deputies arrived to the home on Pawnee Drive in Spring Lake Township, they found Boone outside holding a blunt object and his father, James Boone, dead inside.

On Monday, the Ottawa County Central Dispatch Authority said that was the second call Kenneth Boone made to 911 that day. The first came in at approximately 6:15 a.m. and asked for police.

In a statement, the dispatch authority said the call was created in the agency’s computer system, but not passed off to deputies in the field.

The call is now under investigation to determine if it was handled properly and dispatching protocols were followed.
