TALLMADGE TOWNSHIP, Mich. — One person was injured during a single-vehicle crash in Ottawa County early Wednesday morning.

Ottawa County police were dispatched about 1:15 a.m. to 8th Avenue near Leonard Street in Tallmadge Township, according to a news release.

A preliminary police investigation showed that a 22-year-old Grand Rapids man was driving fast in his 2005 Infiniti north on 8th Avenue.

He did not stop for the four-way stop at Leonard Street, and when he drove over the rise in Leonard Street, he lost control of the car, Ottawa County police said.

The vehicle left the roadway, hit a culvert and a mailbox, caused turf damage in a front lawn and hit two more culverts before coming to a stop.

The driver suffered non-life-threatening facial injuries and was transported to Butterworth Hospital.

No other passengers or vehicles were involved in the crash.

The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate.
