MUSKEGON, Mich. — After facing a little adversity, a recreational marijuana shop in Muskegon is set to hold its grand opening.

Bella Sol, located at 1839 Peck St., will hold its "Celebration of Recreation" from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday, March 13 and 14.

Spin the wheel deals, swag bags, social media contests with prizes and some other surprises will all be part of the fun during the festivities. Food and drinks will also be provided.

Heather Howell, patient care specialist at Bella Sol, says the shop has just about any type of recreational or medical marijuana product you might like.

"We have flour," she said. "We have edibles, we have concentrates, we have topicals, we have patches."

In addition to selling recreational products for adult-use, Bella Sol also has a registered nurse on hand to provide patient consultations for those interested in medical marijuana.

On top of that, they offer a unique program called Canna-Val, which uses the latest research to develop cannabinoid profiles for customers. Those profiles, called leaf prints, show individuals which products they match up with best.

The shop was originally supposed to open in January, but some unforeseen circumstances forced the owners to delay for weeks.

"We had our state licensing," Howell said. "There was a problem with securing product at first. Because the recreation market is new ... there wasn't a whole lot of recreational product, because there wasn't a lot of vendors."

Although it took a minute to get ready to roll, Howell says the shop has already made its presence known in the community.

"We got out into the community and we've given back to the community," she said.

Continuing that trend, some of the proceeds from Friday and Saturday's "Celebration of Recreation" will benefit the Muskegon County Department of Parks and Recreation.

There will also be a raffle with proceeds being donated to the local V.F.W.
