Fruitport PD: No one hurt after shot fired at Old Fashioned Days

FRUITPORT, Mich. — The Fruitport Township Police Department (FTPD) confirmed with FOX 17 News there was a "shots fired" call around 10:30 p.m. Saturday near Pomona Park.

Fruitport Old Fashioned Days was underway at the time. Authorities say the gunshot rang out in the carnival section.

Video taken from the Ferris wheel shows what appears to be a fight breaking out beforehand:

"We probably had eight officers right at that scene within 20 seconds of this occurring," says Deputy Chief Greg Poulson.

Police say no one was injured. They say the scene has since been cleared, adding the public is not believed to be in any danger.

SHOTS FIRED NEAR OLD FASHIONED DAYS

We're told police are now looking for persons of interest in the case as they review video recordings from the incident.

Those with knowledge or video related to the investigation are encouraged to connect with FTPD. Tips may be submitted anonymously to Silent Observer at 231-722-7463.

Old Fashioned Days will proceed as originally planned, according to police.

Fruitport Community Schools released the following letter to families who says counseling and support are available to those who need it:
