18-year-old dies after shooting in Muskegon

MUSKEGON, Mich. — Muskegon police are investigating a shooting from last month that left a man dead.

It happened about 3:45 a.m. Dec. 30 in the 500 block of Glen Oaks Drive, a news release said Tuesday.

Officers responded to a report of shots fired in the area and found an 18-year-old Muskegon man, Branson Cooper, suffering from gunshot wounds to the chest.

Cooper was transported by ambulance to Mercy ER for treatment.

He later succumbed to his injuries and died.

Several persons of interest are in custody in connection to the shooting.

The investigation continues.
