SPRINGFIELD, Mich. — A 27-year-old Battle Creek man was seriously injured after being hit by a car and the driver who caused the crash is now facing charges.
Deputies with the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office say the man was a pizza delivery driver who was reportedly driving at a high rate of speed Thursday around 8 p.m. in the Avenue A Mobile Home Park in Springfield.
We're told bystanders yelled for the driver to slow down and even called the pizza restaurant to complain before the suspect, a 42-year-old Battle Creek man, ended up striking a pedestrian and several other cars in the lot.
The 27-year-old victim was taken to a nearby hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. The driver is now facing felonious assault charges.
