WAYLAND, Mich. — The Michigan State Police announced that their 2019 Trooper of the Year award went to Evan Alkema from their Wayland Post.
He was picked based on his exemplary work performance, leadership skills, and extensive community involvement both on and off duty.
Alkema joined the M.S.P. in June 2014 as a member of the 127th Trooper Recruit School.
He was assigned to the Houghton Lake Post but then transferred to the Wayland Post where he is currently assigned.
