Two arrested after officers find drugs and stolen firearm during traffic stop

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Two Kalamazoo residents are behind bars after officers discovered drugs and stolen firearm during a traffic stop.

Around 4 a.m. on Douglas Avenue near North Street, a Kalamazoo Public Safety officer pulled over a vehicle for speeding. Upon initial approach to the window, the officer noticed narcotics inside the vehicle and then brought out K-9 Murphy.

With the dog, the officer conducted a search and found a stolen firearm along with the narcotics. A 17-year-old and 21-year-old were subsequently arrested and charged with CCW, reviving and concealing stolen property and possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine.
