Shooting suspect leads police on foot chase

KALAMAZOO, Mich — Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety Officers chased a shooting suspect before taking him into custody Sunday afternoon.

Around 4 p.m. police were notified someone shot at a house in the 1000 block of Princeton. When they arrived, They found a 19-year-old Kalamazoo man had been hit by the gunfire.

Witnesses were able to describe the suspect and point police in the direction they went to get away from the scene. KDPS Officers found the 17-year-old male a short distance away. The young man was armed and ran from police for a short distance before being arrested.

The 19-year-old was taken to the hospital with injuries police called "non-life threatening."
