KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Kalamazoo police are looking for the suspects behind a home invasion that happened on Sunday at 2:15 a.m. on Alamo Avenue.

“Someone had broken into the house or forced their way into the house and then actually shot the victim,” said Capt. Craig Habel during an interview at headquarters. “That’s who we got the call from.”

Capt. Habel said the intruders, who are described to be two Black males, asked the victim ‘where the weed at’ before shooting him in the leg.

“The victim said they have nothing to do with illicit drugs or marijuana or anything like that, “ he said. “So we’re looking at possibilities of a former tenant.”

Capt. Habel said the victim, who is recovering in the hospital, told detectives that he had roommates. However they moved away within the last two weeks.

“If anybody you know saw anything that morning or after or has any information, urge them to give us a call or even Silent Observer,” he said.
