Kalamazoo man arrested after breaking and entering with a gun

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Officers of the Township of Kalamazoo Police Department arrested the 33-year-old suspect and charged the man with felony assault.

Early Saturday morning, The Township of Kalamazoo Police Department responded to a report of a breaking and entering by a man with a gun.

While on scene, officers saw a female hanging from a second story window trying to escape the home as well as shots being fired inside the home.

The investigation revealed the suspect, a 33-year-old Kalamazoo Township resident, had come home upset and engaged his roommates in an argument.

During the argument, a firearm was discharged causing the roommates to flee the home.

No one was injured by gunfire, but the victims did sustain injuries during the incident.

Responding Officers were able to get the suspect to surrender, without incident, after approximately an hour of negotiations. The suspect has since lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail.

The victims are being treated at local a local hospital for their injuries.
