KALAMAZOO, Mich. — On Saturday around 10:30 a.m., an officer from the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety observed smoke coming from a home in the 1000 block of W North St and called in backup to help fight a potential fire.
The home was vacant at the time of the fire.
The initial fire attack was hampered by electrical lines that were on fire inside and outside of the home. Once the electricity was turned off to the area, officers extinguished the fire.
The cause of the fire does not appear to be suspicious and is under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s office.
