DOWAGIAC, Mich. — Two people are facing murder charges accused of killing a man during a home invasion and robbing the other people inside.

It happened early Monday morning at a home on Louise Avenue near Pine Lake in Dowagiac.

Police say they received a tip that a 40-year-old man was shot and killed inside the home.

When they arrived they found the victim and learned one of the suspects used to live at the home. Police believe this was not a random incident and the home was targeted.

Police say after the suspects shot and killed a man inside, they tied up the other people while looking for items to steal.

A 38-year-old man from White Pigeon, Michigan who previously lived at the home, was arrested just north of Three Rivers in connection to the case. A second suspect, a 41-year-old man from Kalamazoo was also arrested at a home in Kalamazoo Township.

Both suspects are now behind bars facing murder charges.

No names have been released.
