KALAMAZOO, Mich. — The city of Kalamazoo along with the Department of Public Safefy are planning a press conference to update the public after protests turned violent in the city Monday night.

Several business owners tell FOX 17 police warned them late Monday afternoon about the possibility of buildings being destroyed following a silent protest earlier in the day.

While many businesses are left to clean up the damage, the silver lining we have seen all morning is volunteers coming downtown along Michigan Avenue to help in the cleanup.

FOX 17 will carry the press conference online, on-air, on our news app and social media pages.

Earlier this week, the city put out a statement in response to death of George Floyd.
