SPRINGFIELD, Mich. — A truck crossed a median this morning in Springfield and hit a parked construction vehicle and pedestrian, sending two men to hospitals with serious injuries.
The crash happened around 10:45 a.m. on West Dickman Road near North 32nd Street, according to the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office this evening.
The pedestrian exited the construction vehicle in the westbound lanes of a construction zone and was walking toward the rear of the vehicle.
The construction vehicle and pedestrian were then struck by a truck that left the eastbound lanes and crossed the road's median, according to the sheriff's office.
The truck continued through a field and crashed into a tree.
The pedestrian, a 37-year-old man from the Coloma area, was transported to Bronson Kalamazoo in critical condition. The truck's driver, a 23-year-old Emmett Township man, was taken to Bronson Battle Creek.
Part of West Dickman Road was closed for about three hours during the accident investigation, which remains open.
West Dickman Road is now open.
