EMMETT TOWNSHIP, Mich. — The animals are returning to the savanna at the Battle Creek area’s top zoo attraction, and families will be able to see them without breaking stay-at-home rules.

The zoo has placed a new web cam in the Wild Africa habitat so you can go online to watch the giraffes, zebras, and gazelles join the addaxes, water bucks, and bonteboks. Maybe a good family challenge would be to identify the addaxes, water bucks, and bonteboks.

In a release, the zoo says the best times for viewing are likely to be 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., depending on the weather. After all, Africa is a bit warmer than Michigan in the spring.

They also recommend following the zoo’s Facebook page for notice on when the zoo opens again.
