SOLON TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A pickup and a car collided head-on Sunday night, killing a passenger in the car and sending five people to the hospital, three of them in critical condition.
The crash took place around 10 p.m. Sunday on M-46 17 Mile at Lime Lake Drive west of Cedar Springs.
Michigan State Police report a Chevrolet Avalanche pickup driven by a Sparta man, 35, was westbound on 17 Mile Road, and a Chevrolet Impala driven by a woman, 28, from White Cloud, was eastbound when the two vehicles hit head-on.
A woman, 50, in the Impala was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the car and one of its passengers, a minor, were both taken by Aero Med to the hospital; the driver of the truck was also taken by the helicopter. All three are in critical condition.
Two passengers in the truck, both juveniles, were taken by ambulance to the hospital and are expected to recover.
MSP released no names but said alcohol is believed to have been involved.
