WYOMING, Mich. — The Wyoming Department of Public Safety says a shooting Wednesday likely started as a road rage incident.
Officers responded to the 4100 block of Byron Center Avenue Wednesday.
They say the shooting between vehicles left one victim, a 23-year-old man, with minor injuries.
The victim reportedly stated two cars followed him for miles before one of them pulled up beside his vehicle and opened fire.
Authorities say one of the bullets fired hit the victim in the back. He has since been taken to a nearby hospital.
A Grandville police officer tracked down both suspect vehicles and performed a traffic stop on one of them, Wyoming DPS tells us. They say a loaded sidearm was found and the driver was taken into custody without further incident.
The other car was found in Grand Rapids and all occupants were questioned, public safety officials say.
We’re told the suspect, described as a 21-year-old man from Grand Rapids, has been taken to the Kent County Jail pending assault charges.
