MSP investigating Byron Township shooting

BYRON TWP., Mich. — Michigan State Police's (MSP) Rockford Post is investigating a shooting after locating a man with several gunshot wounds,

The man was found off near the entrance ramp of US-131 and 100th Street in Kent County's Byron Township around 5 a.m. this morning.

The 26-year-old Grand Rapids man was found in a ditch near the ramp with life-threatening gun shot wounds, by a vehicle parked on the shoulder of the ramp.

The man was then transported by ambulance to Metro Hospital in Byron Center, where he remains in critical condition.

Upon investigation, MSP believes that the victim was fleeing from an earlier altercation at Fish Ladder Park in Grand Rapids.

The investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been made at this time.
