KENTWOOD, Mich. — Automotive aficionados have double the options to participate in the 28th Street Metro Cruise this summer.
Woodland Mall joins Rogers Plaza as the second main event location for the perennial summer event, the Wyoming-Kentwood Chamber of Commerce announced Tuesday night.
“We are very excited to increase the reach and footprint of Metro Cruise®”, says Camber President Bob O’Callaghan. "This move allows us to have an official presence on the east side of 28th Street, while easing the very high attendance at the Main Event at Rogers Plaza location.”
The 28th Street Metro Cruise draws approximately 250,000 people to the road and hosts dozens of events, car-clubs, and spectators. The second location is expected to expand that number. Rogers Plaza will continue to be the main location for Metro Cruise-ers to see their favorite rides and show off their pet-projects. Woodland Mall was chosen for its impact on the immediate area.
“Our top choice for a site was the Woodland Mall. They are a major player along 28th Street," O'Callaghan said. The Metro Cruise will take over the southwest parking lot of the Woodland Mall on August 22nd from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The Wyoming-Kentwood Chamber promises new features for this site including impaired driving course, a jaws of life demonstration, live music, kids entertainment and food vendors.
The 28th Street Metro Cruise® is owned and managed by the Wyoming-Kentwood Area Chamber of Commerce. The Main Event at Rogers Plaza will be Friday August 21st from 4-10p.m. and Saturday August 22nd from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
