LOWELL, Mich. — After surviving a heart attack, Jim Ormiston raised $3,000 for AED's to be donated to golf courses.

While reuniting with rescuers, Ormiston told us about Heart Start - a fundraiser and AED dedication he would be hosting Sunday night to make sure the course was able to handle another emergency.

During the event a Philips FRx AED and equipment was donated by School Emergency Response Coalition (SERC), a non-profit organization dedicated to educating Grand Rapids area Public School students how to react in an emergency situation.

The money raised will go towards AED's at Arrowhead Golf Course in Lowell; where the event and Ormiston's heart attack took place, and Morrison Lake Golf Club in Saranac.

Heart Start was an 18-hole, 4-person scramble and the cost of the ticket included a pulled-pork dinner, green fee, and a cart.

Founder of the SERC, Kevin McGraw, tells FOX 17 the equipment donated is capable of delivering a lifesaving shock to adults, children, and infants.
