KENTWOOD, Mich. — A furniture manufacturer in Kentwood is closing its doors, impacting about 210 jobs.
Knoll Inc. announced it would be consolidating its operations on Thursday and closing its West Michigan facility. Operations will fully close by the end of 2021.
People who are impacted by the cuts will receive severance packages or relocated to other Knoll facilities.
“We are deeply grateful to our entire Grand Rapids team and the broader Kent County community,” Knoll Office President and COO Chris Baldwin said in a release. “We are enormously proud of our Grand Rapids associates’ dedication, but must remain particularly vigilant about our long-term competitive position. After a comprehensive analysis of our North American operations, we determined substantial benefits could be realized as a result of this restructuring.”
The company says closing the West Michigan location will save approximately $10 million to $11 million a year.
