KENTWOOD, Mich. — This weekend AMVETS Post 23 in Kentwood is celebrating 70 years in the community.
The celebration will take place all weekend long, from Thursday to Sunday, honoring the post's long and storied history.
Organizers say the was established back on February 27, 1950, a little more than a year after the national AMVETS organization was formed and is one of the oldest active posts in Michigan.
AMVETS Post 23 is located at 98 52nd Sreett SE in Kentwood.
