WEST MICHIGAN — Consumers Energy is reporting outages in Kent County amid severe thunderstorms in the area.
The outages are mainly in the Cedar Springs area, though there are also some by Rockford and Belding, according to Consumers Energy's map.
Over 20,000 customers are currently affected.
There is a slight risk of severe thunderstorms throughout West Michigan on Friday night, with the main concern being damaging winds.
Tornadoes and hail look unlikely, but locally heavy rain and flash flooding are possible.
