Suspect in weekend Grand Rapids standoff charged

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Lashawn Antonio Covington was charged Tuesday in the 12-hour standoff with police in Grand Rapids in which four people were held at gunpoint.

Covington was charged in 61st District Court with first degree home invasion, two charges of unlawful imprisonment, a domestic violence charge, and three weapons charges. Bail was set at $100,000.

The domestic violence charge is Covington’s third domestic violence offense.
