GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A stray bullet was found last weekend near a broken window in the third-floor bathroom of an apartment in a Grand Rapids retirement community.

The incident occurred in the Clark retirement community at 1551 Franklin St SE.

Maintenance replaced the glass, initially not knowing it was the result of a bullet, Grand Rapids police said. The bullet was found in the room later in the evening in a trash can.

Police determined that the bullet likely randomly landed there after being fired from a half mile to a mile away, according to a letter the community sent its residents.

No one was hurt.
