Grand Rapids Public Schools board sets new superintendent’ pay at $220,000 plus benefits

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The new superintendent of Grand Rapids Public Schools, Dr. Leadriane Roby Ph.D, will be paid $220,000 a year, plus a $15,000 annual annuity and vacation.

The school board approved the compensation package Tuesday night.

Dr. Roby’s new contract, for which the compensation is set, begins July 1, 2020, through June 30, 2023. She was selected by the GRPS board on February 24 from her position as assistant superintendent of Richfield Public Schools in Richfield, Minn.

Since she was hired and during the contract negotiation period, Roby has been paid $419.50 per day worked plus travel expenses. It board could also cover moving related expenses up to $5,000.

The new contract also included 30 days of vacation a year.
