GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Grand Rapids police found the body of a homicide victim Thursday that had been missing since last month.

The body of a Black man in his 60s, Tyrane Williams, was disposed of in the early morning hours of Aug. 20 somewhere in northern Kent County, a news release said Thursday.

His body was found near 15 Mile Road and Ball Creek Road in Sparta Township.

The suspect in this case, Jaeloni Maliek Talton, 24, is being held at the Kent County Correctional Facility on homicide-related charges, including open murder, tampering with evidence and possession of a firearm when committing a felony.

Before his arrest, Talton was driving a 2002 black Oldsmobile Bravada SUV, which was used to dispose of the body, GRPD said.

While disposing the body, Talton was unexpectedly contacted by a woman in a white Toyota Prius or similar vehicle.

The woman stopped to ask if he was having car trouble or needed help.

She drove away when Talton declined assistance.
