GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — One person was hospitalized after a shooting overnight in Grand Rapids.

Police tell FOX 17 it happened just after midnight Thursday on Delaware Street between Union and Eastern avenues on the city's Southeast side.

Officers found an 18-year-old man with two or three gunshot wounds to the arm and possibly in the side, a news release said.

The man told police he and a friend were riding their bikes when a black car drove past and shot at them four or five times.

He was struck and fell off his bike, after which he and his friend fled and hid behind a home in the 600 block of Alexander until police arrived.

The man was taken to St. Mary's Hospital with survivable injuries.
