SHERIDAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Authorities are presuming that a man has drowned in a lake after jumping from a pontoon.

At around 7 p.m. on Saturday, emergency crews responded to a report of a subject who jumped from a moving pontoon and did not surface at Round Lake in Sheridan Township, according to the Mason County Sheriff's Office today.

The pontoon was returning to shore after an afternoon of boating.

Rescuers searched until 2 a.m. on Sunday with no results.

Searchers were back on the lake this morning, weather permitting, to resume the search.

The sheriff's office said Nathan Munsey, 47, of Goodrich is presumed to have drowned.

Several other agencies assisted the Mason County Sheriff’s Office and its Marine Patrol and Dive Team in responding to the call: the Michigan State Police; Fountain Area Fire & Rescue; Mason County Emergency Management; Free Soil Fire; Hamlin Fire; Life EMS; DNR Law Enforcement; Mason County VSU; and Ludington Police Department.
