County Prosecutor charged with drunk driving, having open intoxicants

LANSING, Mich. — Attorney General Dana Nessel announced today Prosecuting Attorney for St. Joseph County, John Lawrence McDonough is facing charges stemming from a crash in May.

McDonough driving in Lockport Township on May 11th when he allegedly crossed the center line, left the road, and hit a fence. He is charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and having open intoxicants inside a motor vehicle.

Operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated is a 93-day misdemeanor charge, and having an open intoxicant in a motor vehicle is a 90-day misdemeanor.

McDonough waived an arraignment on June 17th and a pretrial hearing is set for July 24th.
