GRAND RAPIDS — This pandemic isn't stopping one organization from supporting families while their children are in the hospital.

The Ronald McDonald House of Western Michigan is hosting its annual Red Shoe Brew fundraiser, virtually, this year. It's Wednesday, May 27th.

The event, which usually brings a couple dozen local breweries and families together to the lawns of the Ronald McDonald House, will be scaled to just a half hour that participants can enjoy from the comfort of their couches, hence the new name, Red Show Brew Couch Edition.

Participants will log onto Facebook. The virtual fundraiser begins at 5:30 pm and runs until 6 pm and features breweries like Three Blondes, Third Nature and Cedar Springs Brewing Companies.

Participants can expect to learn some recipes, take fun quizzes, even vote for their favorite breweries. Most importantly, participants will learn just why the Ronald McDonald House is so crucial to West Michigan.

Money raised will help the Ronald McDonald House purchase more PPE as they begin welcoming families again. And, because volunteers are not currently allowed inside to bring food to feed families, donations will also go toward supplying meals during this time.
