LANSING, Mich. — The state announced on Sunday afternoon that the number of positive cases of the coronavirus in Michigan has increased to 69,338.
The number of cases increased by 390 from Saturday, when there were 68,948 statewide cases, according to the Department of Health and Human Services this afternoon. Yesterday, the state reported 653 new cases.
The state says there have been 6,068 coronavirus deaths in Michigan.
The number of deaths has increased 1 from yesterday, when there were 6,067 statewide deaths.
Statewide, 53,867 people have recovered from the virus as of July 5. A person is considered "recovered" by the state if they are "30 days out from their onset of illness."
In the U.S., there are 3,278,946 cases, and there have been 135,006 deaths — while 995,576 people have recovered, according to the global COVID-19 Dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
