Michigan reports 9,010 new COVID-19 cases since Saturday

LANSING, Mich. — The number of positive cases of the coronavirus in Michigan has increased to 216,804.

The number of cases increased 9,010 from Saturday, when there were 197,806 statewide cases, according to the Department of Health and Human Services this evening.

On Saturday, the state reported 6,225 new cases, a new daily record, according to WXYZ.

The average number of cases over the past two days was 4,505.

The state says there have been 7,640 coronavirus deaths in Michigan.

The number of deaths has increased 62 from Saturday, when there were 7,578 deaths. On Saturday, the state reported 51 new deaths.

Statewide, 121,093 people have recovered from the virus as of Oct. 30. A person is considered "recovered" by the state if they are "30 days out from their onset of illness."

In the U.S., there are 10,023,276 cases, and there have been 237,760 deaths — while 3,781,751 people have recovered, according to the global COVID-19 Dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
