KENTWOOD, Mich. — In a letter addressed to parents, guardians and students, Kentwood Public Schools (KPS) Superintendent Michael Zoerhoff announced Saturday that East Kentwood High School, along with the East Kentwood Freshman Campus, will move to remote learning through Friday, October 30.
This shift comes after KPS learned of seven positive COVID-19 cases in the past week, as 123 individuals are now in quarantine.
KPS students will receive further detailed information from their teachers and principal regarding the week͛'s class schedule and how their learning will continue.
In the letter, Zoerhoff said that this decision was a difficult one that was made after a great deal of discussion and advice from the Kent County Health Department (KCHD).
"We are moving forward under the guidance of the Kent County Health Department and all measures have been taken to protect the wellbeing of our staff and students," Zoerhoff said in the letter.
KCHD will continue to conduct contact tracing, as both the East Kentwood Freshman Campus and the East Kentwood 10-12 Building will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected this upcoming week.
