Kalamazoo County official speaks to President Biden during Portage visit

PORTAGE, Mich. — Kalamazoo County Health Officer Jim Rutherford spoke with President Biden today during his visit to the Pfizer facility in Portage, according to Kalamazoo County.

The county says Rutherford provided the president with information regarding the county’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic and its initiative to provide vaccines to residents.

“It was an honor to meet with President Biden during his tour of Pfizer’s facility,” says Rutherford. “We’re proud to have a safe, effective COVID-19 vaccine produced right here in Kalamazoo County by Pfizer, and this groundbreaking vaccine will be shared with the world as we look to a return to normal.”

The county adds Rutherford oversees the distribution of the vaccine in Kalamazoo County.
