Davenport postpones commencement

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Davenport University is making several changes due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The university said today it has postponed its spring commencement.

It will notify students of a new date "when possible."

Students are receiving online and alternative learning until the end of the semester on April 24.

Davenport is also winding down its campus.

Some students are still residing at its Grand Rapids location. However, students have been encouraged to return home if possible to "aid with social distancing."

Faculty and staff have been asked to work from home. Essential personnel are not included.

The university also said all on-campus events and meetings have been canceled, postponed or moved online.
