MICHIGAN — The number of positive cases of the coronavirus in Michigan has increased to 430,780.
The number of cases increased 4,486 from Friday, when there were 426,294 statewide cases, according to the Department of Health and Human Services this afternoon. On Thursday, the state reported 5,157 new cases.
The state said that as of Saturday afternoon there have been 10,662 coronavirus deaths in Michigan.
The number of deaths has increased 206 from Friday, when there were 10,456 deaths. On Friday, the state reported 61 new deaths.
Statewide, 197,750 people have recovered from the virus as of Dec. 8. A person is considered "recovered" by the state if they are "30 days out from their onset of illness."
In the U.S., there have been 15,998,522 cases, and there have been 296,977 deaths — while 6,135,314 people have recovered, according to the global COVID-19 Dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
