Michigan reports 451 new positive cases of coronavirus

MICHIGAN — The number of positive cases of the coronavirus in Michigan has increased to 102,468.

The number of cases increased 451 from yesterday, when there were 102,017 statewide cases, according to the Department of Health and Human Services this afternoon.

The state says there have been 6,480 coronavirus deaths in Michigan.

The number of deaths has increased 7 from yesterday, when there were 6,473 statewide deaths. Yesterday, the state reported 8 new deaths.

Statewide, 76,151 people have recovered from the virus as of Aug. 28. A person is considered "recovered" by the state if they are "30 days out from their onset of illness."

In the U.S., there are more than 6,014,500 cases, and there have been at least 183,100 deaths — while 2,153,939 people have recovered, according to the global COVID-19 Dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
