KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Bronson Healthcare is putting an end to elective procedures and surgeries.
The move takes effect on March 18, according to Bronson this morning.
The health system made the decision to help "reduce the spread of COVID-19 in our communities."
Bronson said it will be contacting patients who have scheduled procedures or surgeries.
The decision will reduce the number of people in Bronson hospitals who "do not have to be there" and will allow Bronson to "conserve supplies and resources" during the pandemic.
"While we know this is difficult news for patients who have been planning for these procedures, we believe this is the most responsible decision for our patients and communities during these challenging times," Bronson Healthcare said.
Patients should direct questions to their providers.
