ALLEGAN, Mich. — The Allegan County Health Department is canceling a COVID-19 testing event planned for this upcoming Saturday because of a recent surge in cases.
That surge in cases has led to an increase in case investigations and there are limited personnel available, a news release said Monday.
“Local public health is mandated to complete case investigations related to infectious diseases, so we must prioritize these investigations to isolate the sick, quarantine the exposed and minimize the spread of COVID-19,” Health Officer Angelique Joynes said. “Testing events are important. We want to make sure we have the right resources available to make an event successful.”
Testing events remain scheduled for Nov. 7 and 21, as well as Dec. 5 and 19.
They will be held at the Allegan County Transportation Building at 750 Airway Drive from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
