94,697 coronavirus cases confirmed in Michigan

LANSING, Mich. — The number of positive cases of the coronavirus in Michigan has increased to 94,697.

The number of cases increased 419 from yesterday, when there were 94,278 statewide cases, according to the Department of Health and Human Services this afternoon. Yesterday, the state reported 616 new cases.

The state says there have been 6,368 coronavirus deaths in Michigan.

The number of deaths has increased 19 from yesterday, when there were 6,349 statewide deaths. Yesterday, the state reported nine new deaths.

Statewide, 67,778 people have recovered from the virus as of Aug. 14. A person is considered "recovered" by the state if they are "30 days out from their onset of illness."

In the U.S., there are 5,553,164 cases, and there have been 173,699 deaths — while 1,925,049 people have recovered, according to the global COVID-19 Dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
