86,191 coronavirus cases confirmed in Michigan

LANSING, Mich. — The number of positive cases of the coronavirus in Michigan has increased to 86,191.

The number of cases increased 762 from yesterday, when there were 85,429 statewide cases, according to the Department of Health and Human Services this afternoon. Yesterday, the state reported 722 new cases.

The state says there have been 6,247 coronavirus deaths in Michigan.

The number of deaths has increased 0 from yesterday, when there were also 6,247 statewide deaths. Yesterday, the state reported 26 new deaths.

Statewide, 60,022 people have recovered from the virus as of July 31. A person is considered "recovered" by the state if they are "30 days out from their onset of illness."

In the U.S., there are 4,904,474 cases, and there have been 160,437 deaths — while 1,598,624 people have recovered, according to the global COVID-19 Dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
