84,050 coronavirus cases confirmed in Michigan

LANSING, Mich. — The number of positive cases of the coronavirus in Michigan has increased to 84,050.

The number of cases increased 664 from yesterday, when there were 83,386 statewide cases, according to the Department of Health and Human Services this afternoon. Yesterday, the state reported 604 new cases.

The state says there have been 6,220 coronavirus deaths in Michigan.

The number of deaths has increased 8 from yesterday, when there were 6,212 statewide deaths. Yesterday, the state reported 6 new deaths.

Statewide, 60,022 people have recovered from the virus as of July 31. A person is considered "recovered" by the state if they are "30 days out from their onset of illness."

In the U.S., there are 4,738,853 cases, and there have been 155,133 deaths — while 1,513,446 people have recovered, according to the global COVID-19 Dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
